The Camp Kids of the Devine School are proud to take part in Alex's Lemonade Stand. Our first event was to hold a bake sale at which we raised $321.
This money is being used to create raffle baskets for our Lemonade Stand which we will hold all day Aug. 16 & 17 at the school.
All proceeds will be then donated to Alex's Lemonade Foundation in honor of Aubrey.
Lesson plans have been created to support this event in means of ways to promote, letters to businesses for donations, how to run a business and most importantly to explain the emotional aspect of death to children.
Aubrey, in whose memory the lemonade stand is being held, died in the spring. She was 2 years old.
Students have been discussing in daily conversations how it must feel to have a sickness and how it feels when a loved one passes away. This become a real subject and something that we as a group take and validate with each other. Yet, as one camp kid stated, "Those who pass away are always in your heart."
