'Monster' Winter Storm Possible Next Week, Accuweather Says

An Accuweather forecaster says we could get buried or dodge a bullet depending on how a winter storm develops next week.

The mid-Atlantic region including the Lehigh Valley is prime territory for a winter storm that could turn into a blizzard —or blow out to sea, according to Accuweather.

This potential "atmospheric bomb" is just something to keep an eye on so far. Forecasters say they'll get a better handle on the potential for a major winter storm as the track develops over the weekend.

The storm is brewing now in the Pacific and will travel cross country in coming days.

Accuweather Senior Meteorlogist Alex Sosnowski writes,

Once the storm reaches the Atlantic coast Wednesday into Thursday (March 6-7), conditions at most levels in the nearby atmosphere and well away from the storm throughout North America will favor explosive development. At this point, the storm could become a real monster. While being too cold and stopping shy of becoming a tropical system, it could pack the punch like one with serious impacts to lives, property and travel plans.

The Eastern Pa. Weather Authority agrees that the storm has significant potential but forecasters will have a better read on it Sunday:

"Keep following this one with us, as it has the potential to seriously impact plans and shut down entire cities in the Northeast."

As of Friday, the National Weather Service is calling for a chance of rain and snow next Wednesday.

Don't forget bread and cheese - life isn't worth living if you can't have a grilled cheese sandwich.

Talk about the old adage "the sky is falling". The weather procrastinators all shout negatives..... only wanting to market their TV station and get people to watch only their news.

how soon we forget-- John Bolaris in 2001 was fired for making these accusations. This storm has not even formed, With this years models- 48 hours notice is required with three weather models all in agreement- otherwise it is BS. Check out EPAWA- ---http://epawablogs.com/ the best weather site in the nation and is very accurate for us. Tell them Michael sent you- they will appreciate it

For all of you praying for the "possible" blizzard, please list your addresses so I can bring my snowplow by and get as much snow plowed into your driveways as possible. And for Janae and Sandi, Happy Birthday, please pray for something else, a Chippendale dancer or a bag full of twenties, anything but more snow.

Only good thing about this much snow is that the days are longer and warmer. Better now than in Jan when it would stick around .

When wishing for tons of snow doesn't anyone have the compassion anymore for the sick, disabled and the elderly who would have a heck of a time if not an impossibilty of removing the snow and getting around-oh and not everyone can afford to pay someone or has the physical ability to use a snowblower-I am one of those people with asthma that has a difficult time removing my own snow and cannot afford to pay someone and remember not everyone has family or a helpful neighbor nearby. What will be will be but for those of you that love snow-help out your neighbor who cannot do it themselves.

My husband and I recently traveled to Key West, Grand Cayman Islands, and Jamaca via Carnival Cruise line. I'm missing the crystal clear blue ocean, the white sandy beaches, and the hot hot sun. I am saying all of this because we should have left now instead of then. I wish that I could take a vote as to
"NO MORE SNOW".
