Salisbury Township Police are investigating the cause of an early morning fire Thursday that destroyed a vacant house in the 1400 block of Lehigh Avenue, according to Eastern Salisbury Fire Chief Clint Ballek.

Flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived at the one-and-a-half story house at about 2 a.m., Ballek said.

The house was vacant, Ballek said.

Firefighters extinguished the flames in about an hour and remained on the property for about four-and-a-half hours, he said.

"It was a total loss," Ballek said.
