Flooding on Keystone Road
Sinkholes and section closed beyond Devonshire Road
A small section of Keystone Road near Rathburn Bridge on Devonshire Road has been closed to traffic because of flooding from the swollen Little Lehigh Creek. Swift-moving water in the creek that runs through Little Lehigh Parkway carried debris and the murky water overran the banks onto the roadway.
Rodney Santiago and Jeremy Shirock, students on Penn State Lehigh Valley's cycling team, were out on an 80-mile ride Friday when they came upon the flooded Keystone Road. The pair stopped to take pictures with their cell phones before navigating through a shallow portion of the flooded road.
Santiago said he was not fazed by the water.
"I'm from Puerto Rico. We have this everytime it rains. The difference is in Puerto Rico it would be be 95 degrees outside," he said.
Elsewhere in the township, there were reports of possible sinkholes on Fairfield Drive and Fish Hatchery Road.
