Funeral for Officer Robert Lasso Set for Tuesday

A public memorial service for Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Northampton Community College.

 

A public memorial service for Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso, who was shot and killed Aug. 11, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Spartan Center at Northampton Community College, according to WFMZ.

Lasso was married with two children.

The private funeral will be held Tuesday morning in Bethlehem for family and friends. Then the funeral procession will travel from Linden Street in Bethlehem, down Market and Cambria streets, past the Freemansburg Police Department, down Freemansburg Avenue, Willow Park Road, Hecktown Road and to the college.

Law enforcement officials from as far as Canada are expected for the services, the report indicates.

The Morning Call reports that Wawa customers in Bethlehem, Easton, Fountain Hill, Lower Nazareth and Palmer Township can contribute to the Robert Lasso Children’s College Fund through Aug. 22. And the Heights Community Federal Credit Union in Bethlehem Township is also collecting donations. Donations may also be mailed to the credit union at 3530 Freemansburg Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18020.

If I could attend the procession, I would. I'll make a donation in honor of his family. Such a senseless act has taken an honorable life, impacting his family and the community, as well as law enforcement everywhere. Officer Lasso will always be remembered. RIP.
