Giant Supermarkets Now Fill Pet Prescriptions

Customers can now have pet prescriptions filled at the local Giant.

Giant Food Stores will allow customers to fill their pet presciptions at any Giant pharmacy, including the one on Emmaus Avenue, the food chain recently announced.

More than 60 percent of Giant customers have at least one dog or cat in their household.

“We are excited to offer this new and convenient option for our customers who are also pet owners,” said Leigh Shirley, director of pharmacy operations. “In addition to offering a variety of pet food products, customers can complete all of their pets’ shopping needs with one stop at our stores.”

Currently 40 percent of vet prescriptions can already be filled at Giant pharmacies. And, with its new partnership with PetCareRx, Giant will be able to offer three of the most popular pet prescription items that had previously been available only from veterinarians and online vet pharmacy providers. These are Heartguard Plus, Rimadyl and Frontline Plus.

For prescriptions that cannot be filled at a local Giant pharmacy, the pharmacists will work with PetCareRx to fill and ship the pet medication directly to the owner’s home, arriving within two to three days.

Customers will also receive Gas Extra Rewards points for prescriptions purchased at the pharmacy and through home delivery via PetCareRx.

This just reinforces the idea of online purchasing for pets. Its much easier most the time to order online and have it delivered to your home, than it is to go to a store. My favorite place to shop for my pet is www.wallyboypetproducts.com
