Hurricane Sandy Animal Shelter Opens in Salisbury
Lehigh Valley County Animal Response Team opens an emergency animal shelter in Salisbury Township, its second in Lehigh County.
The Lehigh Valley County Animal Response Team has opened a second emergency animal shelter for owners seeking refuge for their pets after Hurricane Sandy. The shelter is at Western Salisbury Fire Department, 3425 Eisenhower Ave. in Salisbury Township.
The group's first shelter at 2120 City Line Road, Bethlehem, remains open and is close to the Red Cross shelter. This is a regional shelter for both Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
Residents who must evacuate their homes and have no place to take their pets may shelter them at this location.
Please provide enough food for a week, medications with directions, and vaccination records if available. Additional supplies such as treats, blankets, toys, etc. will be comforting to your pet and help to make them feel safe, so include them, too.
