Lehigh County officials presented the newly renovated Lehigh County Community Corrections Center in Salisbury Township to the media Dec. 12. The residential facility for low-risk offenders at 1600 Riverside Drive now houses both men and women in separate areas at the site. The site was the former home of the Lehigh County Men's Community Corrections Center.

The renovation added nearly 26,000 square feet and nearly doubled its capacity from 240 beds to 400. The construction, expansion and restoration of the center came in under its $6.5 million budget. Officials said the consolidation of the corrections program will allow Lehigh County to save $400,000 annually in operating costs.
