Salisbury Police Awarded $15,000 Bethlehem Sands Casino Grant
The Salisbury Township Police Department applied for $15,000 gaming grant from Sands Casino slot revenue designated for neighboring municipalities.
For the third year in a row, the Salisbury Township Police Department will share in gaming grants being awarded by Lehigh County for municipalities impacted by the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.
The department applied for and received $14,988, said Salisbury Police Chief Allen Stiles.
The money will be used to buy two radar speed signs and pay for overtime costs of officers needed for extra traffic enforcement in the Susquehanna Street, Emmaus Avenue and Broadway corridor in East Salisbury. Traffic has increased in that area of Salisbury since the casino was built.
