Lehigh Valley Olympian Varvara Lepchenko competes in the second round of singles tennis today against Julia Goerges of Germany. It will be the day's second match after 11:30 a.m. London time -- about 8 a.m. in the Lehigh Valley. Lepchenko, formerly of Uzbekistan, has resided in South Whitehall but now lives in Upper Macungie. She has trained at the 24/7 Fitness Club at West End in South Whitehall in recent years and competed in a tournament there, said Liz Lentz, who works at the club's front desk. The Lehigh Valley's Varvara Lepchenko advanced to the second round of tennis at the London Olympics on Monday, beating Veronica Cepede Royg of Paraguay. Lepchenko, formerly of Uzbekistan, has resided in South Whitehall but now lives in Upper Macungie. She beat Cepede Royg in the third set of her first-round match. Lepchenko, who is making her Olympic debut in the 2012 games, beat Cepede Royg 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 in the first round. Fans of the 2012 Olympic gymnastics team are showing their support as Olympic fever heats up. Some are even making videos. This video -- a joint effort between "@DanielCSantos" and "@CSaccullo" -- shows all members of the 2012 Team USA Gymnastics team, including Coopersburg's Elizabeth "Ebee" Price.  In the video's comment section, the pair wrote: "Your country couldn't be any more proud to have such an amazing group of athletes represent it. On behalf of fans everywhere thank you for all your blood sweat and tears, this is your moment!"
