Browning Concedes, Ott Wins GOP Nod for Lehigh County Executive

Republican Dean Browning concedes defeat to Scott Ott for their party's nomination for Lehigh County executive in Tuesday's primary, according to unofficial vote tallies.

Republican Scott Ott apparently beat challenger Dean Browning for the GOP nomination for Lehigh County Executive, according to unofficial tallies. Ott, a Lehigh County commissioner, will now face the apparent Democratic nominee, Tom Muller, who was named acting county executive last week, in the November general election. Browning, of South Whitehall, conceded the race about 10 p.m. at a gathering at the Buckeye Tavern in Macungie. First Ott runs on a campaign that claims that he didn't raise taxes; in the very next breath he raises the assessment which.....raises the taxes (not just county, but school as well). That way he could claim that 'technically' he didn't raise the taxes. Oh I can't wait for him to be county executive (sarcasm alert); man-snake of forked tongue.   more ›

A township commissioner who's not on the ballot will try to win re-election in Tuesday's primary.

Incumbent Salisbury Township commissioner James Seagreaves will need a minimum of 10 write-in votes in Tuesday's primary election in order to advance to November's general election, according to officials at the Lehigh County Voter Registration office. Seagreaves is running for re-election to the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners. However, a  filing error left his name off the ballot in the township's second ward. No person is listed on Tuesday's primary ballot for commissioner in Salisbury Township's second ward. Terri Harkins, deputy chief clerk at the Lehigh County Voter Registration office, confirmed that Seagreaves will need 10 write-in votes, which matches the amount of signatures needed on a ballot petition. Joe Sestak May Challenge Pat Toomey for Senate Seat

Former U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak, a Democrat, announced Tuesday that he's exploring another run for the Senate; Sestak narrowly lost to Pat Toomey in 2010.

Can Sestak beat Toomey? Who would you vote for if the Senate election was held today? Tell us in the comments section below. Tuesday's announcement ends speculation that Sestak, 61, is raising money to challenge Gov. Tom Corbett. Sestak raised $460,000 in the first quarter of this year. A Sestak-…

Toomey is the right person at the right time. He has done a fine job to date & demonstrated an excellent understanding of the facts. We don't need another far left liberal in the Senate pushing for the Federal government to take over everything from gun ownership to education. The Constitution spells out the first issue and the second is a State & Local issue.   more ›
