More About Dimmick Park
Dimmick Park, Hellertown's oldest public park, was developed during the 1930s as a Works Progress Administration project. The park is often referred to as the "jewel" of the borough park system and is named in honor of Burgess Morris Dimmick, the mayor who was instrumental in securing the financial aid which made its construction possible. Dimmick was mayor of Hellertown from 1927 until 1945 - longer than any other person since the borough was incorporated in 1872.
Dimmick Park includes a playground, ballfields, a grandstand, walking trails, picnic facilities and the historic Hellertown swimming pool, which is one of the largest municipal pools in the Lehigh Valley.
Each year the park hosts numerous events, including Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day, Second Sunday Music in the Park summer concerts and the Dewey Fire Company Carnival. The park also hosts children's summer programs sponsored by the Bethlehem YMCA.
Free public parking is available at the park, which is located at Durham Street and Tobias Drive.
