Fierce Storm Knocks Out Power

A strong mid-afternoon thunderstorm knocked out power to 371 Salisbury Township residents, according to PPL Electric.

A fast and furious thunderstorm rolled through the Salisbury Township area Monday afternoon, taking down tree limbs and cutting power to 371 residents, according to PPL Electric.

As of 7:55 p.m., all but 18 of the 371 residents affected had electric service restored, according to PPL's outage map.

PPL Electric crews were working on S. 24th Street, near Muhlenberg Street late Monday afternoon, trying to restore power. Muhlenberg Street residents, who live on a cul-de-sac near the Swain School, said power was out in the neighborhood.

Tree limbs were down along the side of S. 24th Street, near Fish Hatchery Road.

In nearby Allentown, part of Fish Hatchery Road was closed with a large downed tree taking out one lane.
