Five Things To Do This Weekend

We've got you covered for what to do during your done-work-outta-here-time.

1. Bowers Chile Pepper Food Festival 

Where/When:  Bill DeLong Memorial Park, Bowers; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Fri. & Sat.

Why go: Hot hot hot. Spicy food, spicy sauces, music, crafts and a horse-drawn wagon ride to nearby Meadow View Farm, where hundreds of different peppers are grown.

2. Cheese, Garlic & Folk Festival

Where/When: Bear Creek Mountain Resort, 101 Doe Mountain Lane, Macungie; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

Why Go: After you've had your fill of chile peppers in Bowers, you'll need to top it off with some cheese and garlic in Macungie.

How much: $8 for adults in advance or $10 at the door; $3 for children (6-12) in advance or $5 at the door. Free for kids 5 and under. www.bcmountainresort.com

3. Celebration of the Arts Jazz Festival

Where/When: Delaware Water Gap, 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday evening; jazz pianist Bob Dorough, featured artist and honoree who originated “Schoolhouse Rock,” performs 5 p.m. Saturday.

Why go: Dozens of jazz performers on multiple stages, art show, theater, dance, poetry and more.

4. We Rock LVHN Benefit

Where/When: Main Gate, 448 N. 17th St., Allentown; 1-9 p.m. Saturday.

Why go: Eights hours of local bands preceded by a motorcycle run at 10 a.m. benefits Lehigh Valley Hospital Network’s Breast Health Services.

5. PBS39 Broadcast Center Grand Opening

Where/When: PBS39 Public Media and Education Center, SteelStacks, Bethlehem; 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday.

Why go: Free concert by the Billy Bauer Band and Adam and the Newhearts, moon bounce and obstacle course, storytelling, children’s TV celebrities and a scholastic scrimmage celebrity face-off and tours of the new TV studio and education center. The Family Fun Ride has been cancelled due to flood damage.
