Five spectacular ways to spend your weekend

It's Thursday and you have no idea what you'll do for the weekend.  Patch is coming to the rescue. We have the best bets for your done-work-outta here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

1. BEV CONKLIN’S WEEKLY JAM

Where/When: Pitcher’s Sports Bar and Grille, 570 Union Blvd., Allentown; Thursday, February 10, 6 p.m.

Why Go: Conklin was named Best Female Vocalist and Best Blues Vocalist at the 2010 Lehigh Valley Music Awards.

2. CHRISTOPHER & BANKS  FASHION SHOW

Where/When: Christopher & Banks at the South Mall, 3300 Lehigh St., Salisbury Township; Saturday, February 12, 1 p.m.

Why Go: Maybe if you see spring clothes it will make the season get here faster.  You might try strutting down the catwalk, too.  Models size 4 to 16 are still needed.

Pricing: Free.

3.  VALLEY CONTRA DANCE

Where/When: Unitarian Universalist Church of the Lehigh Valley, 424 Center St., Bethlehem; Saturday, February 12, 7 p.m.-10:30 p.m.

Why Go:  It's line dancing, but there's not a cowboy hat in sight. Think French/English folk dancing. Live music and instructions for beginners.

Pricing: $9 for adults, $5 for students.

4. YIANNIS TAVERNA

Where/When: 3760 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem; Open Thursday – Saturday, 11:30 a.m. – 11p.m. and Sunday, 8 a.m. - 9p.m.

Why Go: Delicious, traditional Greek food and a relaxing atmosphere. Try the sagnaki appetizer—it’s flambéed cheese. Yum.

Pricing: $6.95 burgers and gyros; food menu available online.

5. REVISITING THE ITALIAN RENAISSANCE: PAINTING AND SCULPTURE FROM THE ALLENTOWN ART MUSEUM

Where/When:  Williams Center for the Arts, Lafayette College, Hamilton and High streets, Easton; through March 26, open Tuesday-Friday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Temporarily transplanted to Lafayette College,  it's the Allentown Art Museum's  same great Samuel H. Kress collection of sculpture and paintings from the Renaissance era (which highlights the human form, light and shadows).
