Fairs, festivals, films, food, fun and fireworks.

1. The Great Allentown Fair

 

Where/When: Allentown Fairgrounds, 17th and Chew streets, through Monday.

Why go: Something for everyone for the 159th year—grandstand concerts with world-famous musicians, polkas on the midway, blue-ribbon fruits and vegetables, cute animals you may eat one day, games of skill, diet-busting concession stands, and all your friends and neighbors.

2. SteelJam

Where/When: SteelStacks, First Street and Founders Way, Bethlehem; 5-11 p.m. Fri., 11 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Sat., 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sun. & Mon.

Why go: New music festival featuring live grooves from 45 jam bands (Umphrey’s McGee, Keller Williams, Ozomatli etc.) on several stages, plus an Eco-Film fest, foods, crafts and a Kids Jam.

Cost: $30 advance, $35 gate, with discount for full festival and ArtsQuest members; ages 6-12, $5, under 6, free. Film festival free with SteelJam pass, or $4.75/$7.50; www.artsquest.org; 610-332-1300.

 

3. Dusk ‘Til Dawn Marathon

Where/When: Becky’s Drive-In Theater, Route 248, Berlinsville; 8 p.m. Sat. & Sun.

Why go: Eight movies starting 8 a.m.-4:15 a.m. “Kung Fu Panda 2” and “X-Men: First Class” for the kids and after they go to sleep, scary, sexy films for the grown-ups, including “Bad Teacher” at 2:15 a.m.

4. Lehigh Valley IronPigs vs. Buffalo Bisons

Where/When: Coca-Cola Park, 1050 IronPigs Way, Allentown; 6:35 p.m. Saturday.

Why go: Fan appreciation night ends with fireworks.

5. Steelworkers and Friends Labor Day Parade

Where/When: Downtown Bethlehem starting 11:30 a.m., Lehigh & Conestoga streets.

Why go: It’s Labor Day Weekend. Parade includes Moravian College Greyhound Marching Band.
