Lehigh Collects Record Amount During National Takeback Day

The county collected expired and unwanted medications.

A record amount of medication was collected in Lehigh County during the seventh National Takeback Day on Saturday.

The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office said that more than 2,000 pounds of expired, unwanted and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications were collected at 17 different sites in Lehigh County.

According to a release from the District Attorney’s Office, the amounts collected by location were:

South Mall (central court), 3300 Lehigh St., Salisbury Township -- 75 pounds.

Target, 912 Airport Center Road, Airport Shopping Plaza, Hanover Township -- 51.5 pounds.

Emmaus Police Department, 400 Jubilee St. -- 195 pounds.
