Man Throws Away $1.25M in Winning Lottery Tickets
The Pennsylvania Lottery confirmed that 25 winning Quinto tickets were sold. Each was worth $50,000, for a total of $1.25 million.
The odds were not in his favor.
A Pennsylvania man won $1.25 million -- and threw the winning tickets away, NBC is reporting.
The tickets were purchased in March 2013 at Zhou Grocery in York, The York Daily Record said. Wendy Hinton, who works at Zhou, said the man played the same numbers every day. And those numbers won, on March 13, 2013, the Daily Record and NBC said.
The Pennsylvania Lottery confirmed that 25 winning Quinto tickets were sold at Zhou. Each was worth $50,000, for a total of $1.25 million.
But the man, whose name wasn't released, misread the winning numbers that day, and tossed his valuable tickets.
Lottery prizes must be claimed within one year, so the clock on the $1.25 million prize ran out on March 13, 2014.
