Obituary: Dorothy Eileen Earl Lorentz

Dorothy Eileen Earl Lorentz, 66, of Elkton, Md., died Dec. 7.

Dorothy Eileen Earl Lorentz, 66, peacefully passed away at home on Dec 7, 2011 in Elkton, Md. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Dorothy Eileen and the late Harry Edward Earl in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 26, 1945. She grew up in Glen Rock, N.J. and was married to Frederick Charles Lorentz in Harmony, N.J.

Dorothy worked with Children and Youth for many years for the State of New Jersey and retired from New Jersey Department of Youth Services. Dorothy loved growing flowers and exotic plants, feeding her variety of pond fish and caring for wildlife. Hummingbirds made her smile from the inside out, birdhouses and habitats for the local wildife made her content and fulfilled. Listening to classical tunes and ballads from today tickled her heart and a good old-fashioned Walt Disney movie after dinner was a blessing. Mornings with coffee and bird watching/feeding started her days just right. Spending quiet afternoons with her favorite pets and good book is how she spent most of her days. Most of all she loved when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would hug her in her favorite chair and watching them play and grow. She loved telling stories of days that have passed and looked forward to future holidays. Christmas was her favorite holiday with bright lights and good cheer for all. She was a great conversationalist and an amazing hugger!
