Get Out: Five Things to do This Weekend

The Lehigh Valley will be filled with music this weekend, from Broadway to salsa.

1. “Happy Days: A New Musical”

Where/When: The Fonz is alive in this musical adaptation of the popular TV series, playing at the Pines Dinner Theatre, 448 N. 17th St., Allentown, Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. and Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. through August 21.

Why go: The accents. Definitely.

2. “The Music Man”

Where/When: Bring the whole family to enjoy this classic show Thursday, June 16, through Saturday, June 18, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m., at the Trexler Pavilion for Theatre & Dance, Muhlenberg College, 24th and Chew Streets, Allentown.

Why go: There’s just something about summer that puts you in the mood for “76 Trombones.”

3. Sabor Latin Festival

Where/When: Soak up the tunes of Latin America in this festival, running on Friday, June 17, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 18, from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, June 19, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.

Why go: Famous artists, food, dancing lessons, a domino tournament and cigar demonstrations are just the beginning.

Cost: Free, except the Musikfest Cafe series ($40-$50). Tickets and info at www.artsquest.org

 

4. SouthSide Film Festival

Where/When: Indie flicks abound at this annual festival, running daily through June 18th, throughout the South side of Bethlehem. Make sure and swing by the closing party, starting at 9 p.m., on Saturday, June 18, at Gander Room II, 102 W. Fourth St., Bethlehem.

Why go: These are movies, several by local artists, that you’re not going to see anywhere else.

5. Father’s Day at Brew Works on the Green

Where/When: This Father’s Day, take Dad for a round on the course, and then head over to the Brew Works on the Green, 3400 W. Tilghman Street, Allentown, where a series of dad-friendly specials will be served from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Why go: Corn on the cob and various kinds of meat prepared every way you can think of. What’s more “Dad” than that?
