Meet Allentown Art Museum's New CEO

David Mickenberg will join the Allentown Art Museum Nov. 18.

Allentown Art Museum's new president and chief executive officer is David Mickenberg, who had headed museums in Virginia, Illinois and Massachusetts.

Mickenberg was appointed earlier this month by the museum's board of trustees following an international search, according to a release.

A Brooklyn native, he will relocate to the Lehigh Valley with his wife, Judy, and join the museum on Nov. 18.

Mickenberg, a museum director for more than 30 years, was until recently CEO of the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, VA, and previously was director of the prominent university art museums at Wellesley College, MA, and Northwestern University, IL.

The museum, which will soon be celebrating its 80th year, is currently hosting American Wildlife Art, as well as lectures, family activities, and school and outreach programming.

The museum is open Wednesday–Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday  from noon to 4 p.m. For more information and directions, visit www.allentownartmuseum.org or call 610-432-4333.
