[Edited press release]

The West End Alliance host its sixth annual West End Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 5 from noon until 10 p.m. on 19th Street between Liberty and Allen streets in Allentown's West End Theatre District.

The festival – the largest neighborhood street festival in the city -- will feature live music from a variety of acts all day. There will be art and craft vendors as well as food from a variety of local restaurants and eateries including Lil Nutzy,Trixies Treats, Joe's Pierogies, Sumac Catering, Front Porch Family Farms, Stooges, Old School Sandwich Co, Lehigh Saengerbund.

The West End Alliance has teamed up with Fegley’s Allentown Brew Works for the second year to bring a one-of-a-kind West End Oktoberfest Lager to the festival. Brewed in the traditional German style, this special craft beer boasts sweet malt flavor and has a smooth full-bodied finish. The incredibly drinkable beer is only available at the West End Oktoberfest, and can be enjoyed in unique, refillable mugs available for purchase during the festival.

This year’s Oktoberfest will take place amid a newly renovated 19th Street. The recently completed streetscaping project dramatically improves the walkability and aesthetics of the neighborhood’s primary thoroughfare. New trees, street lights, benches, planters, bike hitches and crosswalks create a welcoming, attractive place. It is the first phase of a $3 million neighborhood improvement project funded by the City of Allentown and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
