Tornado Watch Issued for Salisbury Township

Strong storms are expected to move into the Lehigh Valley on Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 28 eastern Pennsylvania counties—including Salisbury Township and all of the Lehigh Valley—until 10 p.m. Thursday.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon, beginning after 4 p.m. 

Some of the storms could produce gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch possible.

Forecasters are calling for more storms tonight, again with the possibility gusty winds, heaving rain and frequent lightning. Tonight, the chance of precipitation jumps to 90 percent tonight, with up to an inch of new rain possible.
