Bites Nearby: Dino's Pizza-teria

Dino's Pizza-teria at South Mall is good for a quick, inexpensive bite.

at the South Mall in Salisbury Township is a cross between a pizza joint and a cafeteria, hence the name. But this casual, inexpensive eatery, located inside the mall's main entrance, serves several other Italian dishes, such as Italian wedding soup, stromboli, ravioli and other kinds of pasta.

And for people on wheat-free diets, Dino's now serves gluten-free pizza.

After you place your order up front and watch the friendly staff warm up your meal and pour your beverages, you can either take the meal home or sit down in the small but cozy, dimly-lit dining area.

Dino’s offers a variety of pizza including white, Hawaiian, Sicilian, buffalo chicken and more. Of course, they still offer traditional toppings such as pepperoni and mushrooms. A large slice of pizza with toppings cost $2.50 and a whole pie is about $9.

Their pizza has a super thin crust, lots of mozzarella cheese and a proportional amount of tangy tomato sauce. It’s full of flavor and less greasy than some popular national pizza chain restaurants. In addition, Dino’s provides a reasonable amount of toppings on their pizzas—they don’t scrimp on the pepperoni.

Dino's stromboli (about $6) is stuffed with tons of mozzarella cheese, ham, pepperoni and salami. The crust I had was very chewy and slightly tough on the ends.

If you need a reprieve from carbs and want something light and not tomato-based, try the chicken noodle soup. It tastes homemade and consists of a thin chicken base with carrots, onion, celery, shredded chicken and bow tie noodles. A small bowl of soup costs about $3.
