1. Canal Days

When: 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

2. Movies Under the Stars: "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"

When: 9 p.m. Friday.

Where: Bear Creek Mountain Resort, 101 Doe Mountain Lane, Macungie.www.bcmountainresort.com

Why go: Bueller? Bueller? A free movie in a lovely outdoor setting? C'mon, need we say more? Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Outdoor dining and specials will be available from The Grille and the tiki bar.

3. Pa. Shakespeare Festival: "Much Ado About Nothing"

When: Through Aug. 5.

Where: DeSales University, Labuda Center, 2755 Station Ave., Center Valley. www.pashakespeare.org.

Why go: A Shakespeare rom-com with glittering wordplay and a tale of two courtships. That should narrow it down.

Cost: $52-$34

 

4. Saucon Valley Restaurant Week

When: Through Saturday.

Where: Nine participating Hellertown and Lower Saucon restaurants. http:hellertown.patch.com

Why go: Eat, drink and be merry, with a discount.

Cost: Dining deals vary at participating restaurants.

 

5. Pennsylvania Blues Festival

When: Friday to Sunday

Where: Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton. www.skibluemt.com.

Why go: Three days, two stages and 15 national blues acts.

Cost: Prices and packages vary, see website. Adult, one-day, festival-only ticket: $35; children (6-12): $9.
