IronPigs' Pork Illustrated Cover Design Winner

Nine-year-old girl wins Lehigh Valley Health Network contest to design IronPigs' baseball program cover.

Ice cream and the IronPigs go perfectly together, at least that's what one nine-year-old girl drew for the winning cover of the Lehigh Valley baseball team's program, contest sponsor Lehigh Valley Health Network announced Tuesday.

Children were asked to to draw "their favorite thing about summer." The winner, Elizabeth Mazzella of Macungie, submitted a drawing of a refreshment stand, named Fefe's, after one of the IronPigs' mascots. In the picture, a young girl is balancing a multi-scoop ice cream cone that, to her surprise, contains a baseball in the middle of the stack.

Elizabeth's winning artwork will appear on the cover of Pork Illustrated available August 12 at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. She will receive four free tickets to the Aug. 12 game and participate in the ceremonial first pitch.
