Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Swain School hosts 3rd annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day community celebration


The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, will host its third annual community celebration for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 21, from 9 a.m.-noon.


“A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: A Day of Remembrance, Celebration and Service” is open to families in the community, and will include age-appropriate educational sessions, discussions, and musical performances around the theme, “Courageous Conversations”.

State Representative Michael Schlossberg is scheduled to open the event at 9 a.m. with welcoming remarks, followed by a presentation by Debra Fraser-Howze, Senior Vice President of Government and External Affairs at OraSure Technologies, Inc. The day will also include age-appropriate educational sessions to learn more about Dr. King and his works, and musical performances.     


All of the planned activities are appropriate to students of all ages and their parents; children must be accompanied by an adult. For those who would like to stay after the formal program, a light lunch compliments of Subway will be provided.
