Yes, You Can!

The Da Vinci Science Center’s Latino Community Partners will host an educational roundtable highlighting career opportunities for students in science, technology, and mathematics.

The program – titled Yes, You Can!, or ¡Sí, Se Puede! – will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Da Vinci Science Center. Latino community leaders will provide their perspectives and describe how students can pursue scientific and technical opportunities. The event is open to the public. An RSVP is requested by Friday, Oct. 21.

The roundtable discussion will be moderated by Wanda Mercado-Arroyo, Moderator, President and CEO of AM International Consultants. Scheduled panelists include Carlos Vargas-Aburto, Ph.D., Provost, and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Kutztown University; Carlos Lopez, Assistant to the Superintendent for Secondary Teaching and Learning for the Harrisburg School District, Harrisburg, Pa.; Leopoldo Mayoral, Senior Professional Staff Member for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Baltimore, Md.; Ana Sainz de la Peña, the former ESOL and Bilingual Education Director for the School District of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pa; Michael Rodriguez, Principal of William Allen High School, Allentown, Pa.; and Julio R. Rojas, M.D., F.A.C.S., an ophthalmologist practicing in Allentown, Pa.
