Celebrate National KidsDay by Spending Time With a Child

Sunday is National KidsDay, a chance for adults to spend more meaningful time spent with children.

created National KidsDay in 1994 to celebrate childhood, demonstrate our commitment to nurturing children and prepare our kids for a healthy, happy future. KidsPeace wants to help build a nation where every child is strong, resilient and happy, surrounded by trusted adults who allow them the freedom to be kids.

KidsPeace proudly celebrates 130 years of helping children, families and communities overcome crisis. National KidsDay, which was recognized by the U.S. Congress and endorsed by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, is a simply reminder of children’s year-round need for quality interaction with adults.

So don’t delay. KidsPeace encourages all parents, grandparents and other caregivers to make a date with a child today and take time to participate in an activity that builds trust and love.

Not sure where to begin? Remember, you don’t have to spend a lot (or any) money on KidsDay. It’s about giving of your time. Here are some ideas for how to celebrate:

• Have a family scavenger hunt.
• Take a trip down memory lane by looking at old photographs and sharing stories.
• Create coupons booklets and tell children they can redeem them for fun activities throughout the year.
• Prepare a meal together.
• Have a family game night or head to the park for a round of kickball, basketball or even tag.
• Throw a National KidsDay party, and invite family, friends and neighbors to share in the special day.
