Holiday Happenings at the Allentown Public Library

Holiday Program schedule at the Allentown Public Library.

December is a busy month here at the Allentown Public Library – especially for children!  The Children’s Services department has been having so much fun reading holiday stories, singing songs, making crafts, and finding Jingle each day.

Who’s Jingle?

Why Jingle is the Library’s very own Elf on the Shelf!  Over 90 children suggested names for our Elf, and they voted for his name at our Holiday Kickoff Party.  Now Jingle visits the library every day and the children may try to find his hiding spot.

Children in grades K-3 can still sign up for our Holiday Book Bunch (stories and craft program), meeting on Thursdays (December 13 & 20) at 6:30 pm.  And there is still room on the Polar Express on Saturday, December 15 at 2:30 pm.  The whole family can finish their letters to Santa at the Meet Santa’s Elf program on Wednesday, December 19 at 6:30 pm.  Please call 610-820-2400 ext. 4 to register for any of these programs.

For those of you who need more flexibility in your holiday schedule, consider attending one or more of our Holiday Family Storytimes.  These programs offer stories, songs and a craft and do NOT require registration!

  • Wednesday December 12 – 10:00 am OR 6:30 pm
  • Friday December 14 – 10:30 am
  • Friday December 21 – 10:30 am

One of the best gifts you can give your child this holiday season is a few quiet moments to snuggle up and read!  Our children’s librarians will be happy to suggest some quiet stories to help everyone take a pause during the holiday rush.
