Obituary: Richard Hoffman, 61, St. Thomas More Member

Richard D. Hoffman, 61, a retired Parkland School District teacher, died Monday.

Richard D. Hoffman, 61, of Allentown, passed away on Monday, April 8, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was the husband of Roberta A. (Hyndshaw) Hoffman, and they celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary this past June. Born in Northampton, Richard was a son of the late Sherwood and Rose (Fedok) Hoffman. Richard received his BA in Elementary Education from Kutztown University and his Masters from Lehigh University. He then taught in the Parkland School District for 37 years, most of that time in the Schnecksville Elementary School prior to retiring in 2010.  

He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Salisbury Township. Richard was a member of the Mercantile Club in Emmaus and the St. Aloysius Young Men's Club in Allentown. He was an avid golfer, and skier, and was a member of the Mack Ski Club.

Surviving with his wife, Roberta, are his daughters; Kristin and her fiance Jason Laky of Northampton, and Katie in Allentown. Brothers; Ronald and his spouse Ann of Bethlehem, Randall and his spouse Beth, Robert and his spouse Elizabeth, Thomas and his spouse Silvia, Christopher and his companion Olga, all of Allentown, and Edward and his spouse Michelle, of Emmaus. Additionally Richard is survived by three nephews, eight nieces, two great nieces, and one great nephew.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Salisbury Township. Calling will be from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the church vestibule.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support the Hoofin' for Hoff Team, 961 Marcon Blvd. Suite 452 Allentown, Pa. 18109.  Arrangements entrusted to the O'Donnell Funeral Home.
