20-Year-Old South Whitehall Man Identified As Gunshot Victim, Investigation Continues

Cody Scheetz died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to Lehigh County Chief Deputy Coroner.

Cody Scheetz, 20, of 312 S. 34th St., South Whitehall Township, was identified as the victim of a to the abdomen Thursday night  at a Salisbury Township home, according to Lehigh County Chief Deputy Coroner Paul Zondlo.

The manner of death is still pending the investigation, Zondlo said.

Salisbury Township police were dispatched at 6:05 p.m. Thursday to 1102 Americus Avenue after a report of a gunshot in the residence, Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen Stiles said.

"Our officers found a young adult male with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen," Stiles said.

According to a published account,  a police radio report indicated the man may have shot himself accidently.

Scheetz was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced death at 6:30 p.m., Zondlo said.

Stiles said he could not comment on the investigation. "We still don't have all the necessary information I believe is necessary," he said.
