30 Tickets Issued in Flexer Avenue Speed Detail

Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen Stiles said a traffic detail targeting speeders on Flexer Ave. last week garnered 30 summonses, a number he called 'significant.'

Motorists who drove at least 10 mph above the posted 25 mph on Flexer Avenue received traffic tickets as a result of a radar detail on the road last week, according to Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen Stiles.

Stiles said 30 summonses were issued to drivers, a number that he called "significant." Police were stationed on Flexer Avenue timing motorists with speed radar through portions of last week.

"We wrote a lot of citations," Stiles said. "It's significant because we don't stop anyone unless they are going 10 miles per hour over the speed limit."

Stiles said the reason for the traffic detail was in direct response to traffic surveys done throughout the township to identify problem areas.

"Wherever we see a difficult street, we'll set up a detail," he said.

Flexer Avenue, between Cedar Crest Boulevard and College Drive, is home to the Trident Swim & Tennis Club, St. Thomas More Church and School and Hope UCC Church.

The speed limit in the area is lowered to 15 mph when children and school buses are present. There are also several stop signs along the route.
