$85,000 Bronze Statue Missing from Lehigh Valley Hospital

Salisbury Township police are investigating the theft of an $85,000 bronze statue by J. Seward Johnson called "Waving Girl 1" that was taken from a Lehigh Valley Hospital storage facility.

The is investigating the theft of a life-size bronze statue taken from a storage facility earlier this year.

The painted bronze sculpture, called "Waving Girl 1," by J. Seward Johnson, is valued at $85,000 and was recently reported missing, according to a news release. The sculpture was taken from a remote storage facility near Fish Hatchery Road on the LVH-Cedar Crest campus sometime during the spring or summer of 2011, police said. The sculpture had been placed in the storage area during a construction project.

The statue, which was completed in 1982, depicts a young woman waving, measures 7 feet 2 inches to the tip of her raised hand and weighs 1,500 pounds.
