Early Morning House Fire on Lehigh Avenue Under Investigation

Salisbury Township Police are investigating the cause of an early morning fire that destroyed a vacant house in the 1400 block of Lehigh Avenue, according to the Eastern Salisbury Fire Chief.

Salisbury Township Police are investigating the cause of an early morning fire Thursday that destroyed a vacant house in the 1400 block of Lehigh Avenue, according to Eastern Salisbury Fire Chief Clint Ballek.

Flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived at the one-and-a-half story house at about 2 a.m., Ballek said.

The house was vacant, Ballek said.

Firefighters extinguished the flames in about an hour and remained on the property for about four-and-a-half hours, he said.

"It was a total loss," Ballek said.

Western Salisbury Fire Department, Fountain Hill Fire Department, Emmaus Fire Department's rapid intervention team, St. Luke's EMS and Macungie EMS assisted.
