Homicide Victim Had Been Set On Fire

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said authorities suspect the man found shot to death had been killed elsewhere, then dumped along Applewood Road.

The man whose body was found along Applewood Road in South Whitehall on Nov. 1 was possibly killed somewhere else and his body dumped there, where it was set on fire, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin told WFMZ

Authorities on Wednesday released , who is believed to be a white male between 18 and 30 years old, in hopes that the public can help identify him.

The sketches have yielded some calls, but so far "nothing concrete," Debbie Garlicki, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's office, said on Thursday.

Martin said the man was not carrying identification, and if he was a transient, could be difficult to identify.

Authorities checked with law enforcement across the state and country about possible missing persons in their jurisdictions, but did not find a match, Garlicki said. The Pennsylvania State police forensic artist, from a Philadelphia barracks, compiled the sketches to assist in the identification of the body.

Coroner Scott Grim said he has obtained enough specimens, including dental records, X-rays and DNA, for possible identification later. The body will be buried as a "John Doe" unless the man is identified and next-of-kin found.
