Community Info

Recycling will be collected next week; Tuesday trash will be picked up on next collection day.  Remainder of the week trash collection is on schedule. Residents are asked to be patient and mindful of the challenges the trucks face in traveling the streets in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Garbage collection by Waste Management will resume Wednesday with regular weekly collection in Salisbury Township.

The Salisbury Township Municipal Building will be open Thursday.

LANTA bus service resumed Wednesday. 

Lehigh County Courts will be open Thursday.

PennDOT's driver and photo license centers in the Lehigh Valley will be closed Thursday.

Allentown Public Library is open Thursday.

Lehigh Valley County Animal Response Team has opened a pet shelter at Western Salisbury Fire Department's station at 3425 Eisenhower Ave.

Businesses

South Mall, Lehigh Valley Mall and the Shops at the Promenade are open.

Road Closings

Honeysuckle Road between Black River Road and Emmaus Avenue in Salisbury Township is closed due to a downed utility.

Seidersville Road is open only to local traffic.

Main Street between State Avenue in Emmaus Borough and Second Avenue in Salisbury Township is closed due to a downed utility.

E. Rock Road. Downed power lines

Honeysuckle Road. Downed power lines

Ehrets Lane (1500 block). Large tree down blocking road. Use extreme caution.

Power Outages

PPL reports that 2,899 customers are without power, down from a high of 6,231.

Schools

Salisbury Township School District is closed Thursday from the storm and Friday for a teacher professional development day.

The Swain School is open Thursday and Friday.

 St. Thomas More School, Lehigh Christian Academy and the Arts Academy Charter School are Thursday.

All Lehigh Valley Health Network hospital sites are operating including 17th Street and Muhlenberg. LVH-Muhlenberg is back on normal power. The Mack Blvd. building will be open Wednesday.

Several of the Health Network’s administrative facilities are without power including:

  • Cedar Crest Professional Park (across Cedar Crest Blvd. from LVH-Cedar Crest)

  • Fairgrounds Surgical Center

  • 1770 Bathgate Blvd. at Muhlenberg

  • 2166 S. 12th St.

  • The Health Center at Moselem Springs

  • The Health Center at Trexlertown

  • The Health Center at Macungie

  • Health Center at Bethlehem Township

  • MONDAY

    The Allentown Public Library will close at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

    Lehigh Valley International Airport flights are canceled Monday.

    Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County volunteers are out on their routes delivering the daily hot and cold meal as well as blizzard bags to be used tomorrow, Tuesday. They will not be delivering hot meals Tuesday.

    PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission urge motorists to avoid all non-essential travel.

    LANTA bus service has been canceled Monday but may resume Tuesday afternoon, depending on conditions.

    Lehigh County Government Center and Courts will be closed Tuesday. Some emergency functions will remain open.

    All LCCC campuses will be closed Tuesday.

    Businesses

    Lehigh Valley Mall is open Tuesday

    South Mall and The Promenade Shops are closed.

    Lehigh Valley Health Network call center will close at noon Monday.

    State liquor stores are closed Monday and Tuesday.
