Man Gets Up to 40 Years in Jail for Burglary Spree

, the Allentown man was sentenced Friday to 20 to 40 years in jail, according to a report in The Morning Call.

Lehigh County Judge Maria L. Dantos imposed the sentence and ordered Vargas, 31, also pay $101,703 in restitution, the report said.

Vargas' brother, George Washington, 29, is scheduled to stand trial in July.

Vargas had pleaded guilty earlier to burglaries and attempted burglaries that had taken place from October 2009 through January 2011,

In Salisbury, the brothers had faced charges for breaking into the , 3400 Lehigh St., 3300 Lehigh St. and Shell Quick Stop, 1132 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., where they smashed the glass front door, pried open two cash registers and stole $700 and 15 packs of Newport cigarettes.
