[Updated at 2 p.m.]

Brian Downs, a spokesman for Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, said crews continue to work on restoring full telephone service to the Salisbury Township hospital and the Cedar Crest Professional Park. However, Downs said the estimated time for full service resumption is 5:30 p.m.

Telephone service to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and surrounding areas was out as of 11 a.m. Friday due to an automobile accident.

Salisbury Township Police confirmed that the accident this morning was on Cedar Crest Blvd. in the vicinity of the hospital, but would not give further details.

Brian Downs, a spokesman for Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, released the following statement:

"Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest is currently experiencing phone issues due to a traffic accident on Cedar Crest Blvd. The phone lines into and out of the campus are affected. At the current time phone service to the Cedar Crest Professional Park is completely without phone service. The Cedar Crest hospital campus is experiencing intermittent interruptions to both incoming and outgoing calls but internal calling is still operational. LVHN’s I/S Telecom and Verizon are working on  the issue. At this time there is no estimate on when service will be fully restored."
