Police Arrest Man After Allegedly Shooting Gun Outside South Mountain Home

An Allentown man was arrested after he allegedly fired shots in a south side neighborhood near Salisbury.

A 44-year-old Allentown man was arrested and taken into custody early Tuesday evening after he allegedly fire shots near his home on E. Johnston Street, near the Salisbury Township border, according to The Morning Call.

Allentown and surrounded the neighborhood around 5 p.m. after reports that a man at 126 E. Johnston St. had been firing shots throughout the day, according to news reports. at Albert and E. Johnston streets, blocked some nearby streets and some residents were evacuated, WFMZ said.

Allentown City Police Capt. Daryl Hendricks told the Morning Call the shots appeared to have been fired outside only. The man, who was not identified, was taken into custody around 6:10 p.m. and sent to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Allentown for a mental evaluation, the report said.
