A three-day manhunt for the driver police say is responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed a pregnant woman, her husband and their premature baby in Brooklyn, N.Y., ended Wednesday in Bethlehem, according to multiple published reports.
Julio Acevedo surrendered in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill on Route 412 just off I-78 in South Bethlehem near Hellertown, according to WFMZ.
He was in Lehigh County Court on Thursday morning and waived extradition back to Brooklyn, where he will face charges, The Morning Call reported.
Acevedo had eluded capture since Sunday, when police say he fled the scene of a crash that killed a young couple in the Williamsburg section of the borough, according to The New York Times.
The son of Nathan and Raizy Glauber, who were both 21, was delivered three-months premature after the crash, but he died the next day.
The Times reported that Derrick Hamilton, a friend of Acevedo’s, arranged the surrender in Bethlehem.
Acevedo, 44, was arrested last month for driving under the influence and that case is still pending.
