Repairman Crushed to Death by Backhoe

Police say a repairman working on a backhoe in South Bethlehem was pinned and killed Friday when the construction vehicle moved.

A repairman working on a backhoe was killed when the construction vehicle moved and crushed him beneath it, officials said.

The accident occurred on the 300 block of State Street, Bethlehem, in a parking lot where construction vehicles are stored, police said.

The identification of the repairman has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The apparent accident is being investigated by the Bethlehem police and the Northampton County Coroner.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will also likely be involved in the investigation, police said.

A construction worker was crushed to death Sept. 4 in South Bethlehem when a 2,000 pound concrete barrier fell on him as he worked on Route 412.
