Salisbury Township Police Detective To Retire

Brian Klimowicz worked 26 years in the department

Salisbury Township Police Detective Brian Klimowicz, a 26-year veteran of the police force, will retire at the end of the year, Chief Allen Stiles announced.

Klimowicz, 49, joined the department in 1985 and was promoted to detective  on August 14, 2003.  He is the department's only detective.

Stiles said he will not be adding a new officer to the department but will fill the positions from within the ranks.

Stiles was given permission from the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners last week to notify the  civil service commission.

"It will involve two testing procedures," Stiles told the board. "One to fill a vacant detective's position because he's retiring, and the second to hire a police officer to fill the slot of the officer who is leaving to become a detective. So, you're not adding to the police department."
