Wrong Fuel Cost Township $4,000 Truck Repair

Salisbury Township Commissioners questioned a $4,000 truck repair bill and found out the truck was fueled with the wrong type of gasoline.

Human error by a public works employee while filling a truck with the wrong type of gasoline recently cost Salisbury Township a $4,000 truck repair.

The error came to light during last Thursday's Board of Commissioners meeting when an inquiry was made concerning the costly truck repair.

"It was during the bills payable portion of the meeting and the commissioners asked about the bill," said Township Manager Randy Soriano.

Soriano said a public works employee filled a truck with regular gasoline instead of diesel fuel.

Soriano said some of the repairs required were covered by warranty, while the remainder cost $4,000.

"In the future, if it is human error, we take that seriously, but for the future so it doesn't occur again, the Public Works director has put in safeguards," Soriano said.

Commissioners voted to pay the bill, Soriano said.
