Candidate for Magisterial District Judge in District Court 31-01-08, which serves Salisbury Township and Fountain Hill Borough.

A registered Democrat, Pochron cross-filed as Republican/Democrat.

AGE: 56 (D.O.B. 2-26-55)

EDUCATION: Salisbury High School 1973; East Stroudsburg University 1977 (Bachelor’s degree in health & physical education). Completed magisterial district judge certification training in 2010.

OCCUPATION: Entering law enforcement right after college, Pochron was a Salisbury Township police officer for 29 years, retiring in 2007 with the rank of sergeant. The same year, he took a job as a campus police officer with DeSales University and since 2010 has been acting chief of police there.

MARRIED: To Carol Pochron. They have three children.

QUALIFICATIONS: With more than 30 years involvement in law enforcement, Pochran says he knows his community and the type of crime that occurs here. “Bordering cities like we do, Salisbury and Fountain Hill are still nice places to live and work, but they have their share of incidents.”

Already certified to serve as a district justice, he says that as a police officer he’s already seen a lot of the day-to-day operations of the district magistrate’s office, including preliminary hearings and preliminary arraignments.

While serving on the Salisbury police force, he was the department’s first DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer, instructing the program at Salisbury Middle School and St. Thomas More School.

He’s also been an athletic coach at Salisbury High School for more than 30 years, previously with football and now as head baseball coach.
