Salisbury Tax Collector Will Become Elected Position

Because of amendments to the state's First Class Township code, Salisbury will change the status of tax collector and treasurer.

Salisbury Township's tax collector, who is currently appointed, will become an elected position this year, and the treasurer, who had been elected every four years, will now be appointed.

The Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners will change the status of tax collector and treasurer because of amendments to the state's First Class Township code. The board will make the changes when it approves an ordinance at its next meeting.

The treasurer, which has been largely a ceremonial position, signs township checks, said Township Manager Randy Soriano. Linda Minger currently serves as the township's tax collector and treasurer, whose term was to expire Jan. 1, 2014.
