Salisbury Township to Ask PEMA to Pay for Hurricane Damage

Salisbury commissioners approve Flexer Avenue repaving payment, bid to remove Patricia Drive pumping station and approve Natural Resources Inventory.

At the Salisbury Township board of commissioners Oct. 13 meeting:

  • Township officials said they will apply to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for reimbursement of costs incurred during Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee in September. An initial damage assessment was $23,000.
  • The board accepted a bid for $287,959 from RGC of Bath for elimination of the Patricia Drive pumping station and for sewer projects on Montgomery Avenue. The township’s sewage system in that area is being connected to South Whitehall’s system by gravity instead.
  • The board approved the payment of $349,047 to Recon Construction Services for repaving Flexer Avenue.
  • The board adopted the first Salisbury Township Natural Resources Inventory recently prepared by the township’s Environmental Advisory Council. Commissioners thanked the council for the report, which is now an official document validating natural resources in the township that can be used for planning.
