Sinkhole Closes Route 33 On-Ramp

Ramp from William Penn Highway to Route 33 North closed for emergency repairs, PennDOT says.

A sinkhole on the on-ramp to Route 33 North from William Penn Highway has forced the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to shut down the ramp and close one lane of the highway between Freemansburg Avenue and Route 22.

PennDOT emergency crews are currently making emergency repairs to the on-ramp, which is expected to remain closed until 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to a department news release.

While the repairs are made, motorists are advised to use Hope Road and drive south to Freemansburg Avenue to access Route 33 North until repairs are completed, PennDOT officials said.
