State Rep. Justin Simmons to Host Marcellus Shale Forum

Informational meeting to be held June 2 at Southern Lehigh Public Library.

Although the Lehigh Valley does not sit atop the natural gas-laden marcellus shale formation, the topic of natural gas drilling elsewhere in Pennsylvania is an important one for many local residents.

In recognition of that fact, state Representative Justin Simmons (R-131) has announced that his office will sponsor a free informational meeting about marcellus shale drilling June 2 at the Southern Lehigh Public Library in Center Valley.

"Marcellus shale drilling in Pennsylvania has the potential to be a tremendous boon for our Commonwealth in the form of sustainable revenue and jobs," Simmons said in a press release about the upcoming meeting. "We must, however, make sure we are all as informed as possible regarding not only the benefits, but also any possible associated safety and environmental impacts."
