Burglars After Copper Pipes, Salisbury Police Say

Two vacant homes were burglarized recently by someone after copper piping, Salisbury police say.

Someone entered two vacant Salisbury Township homes in an effort to steal copper piping, police said.

On December 18, township police received a report of a burglary of a home for sale on Mockingbird Court. Someone entered through the garage and got into the basement. There, the burglar tried and failed to cut out some copper piping, police said. 

The next day, police received another report of a burglary of a vacant home for sale on Bridle Path Road in which someone succeeded in removing copper pipping.

Copper has become more expensive in the last decade and the number of reports of copper thefts have increased. Two New Jersey men were just arrested for allegedly stealing copper downspouts in Easton.
